Sharp heel pain with your first steps in the morning? Heel pain and plantar fasciitis are assessed and treated by a Registered Chiropodist at our Don Mills clinic. No referral needed — book online in under a minute.
Consider an Assessment if You Notice:
Sharp heel pain with your first steps in the morning
Heel pain after sitting or resting
Pain that eases as you move, then returns
Heel pain that worsens with prolonged standing
Pain under the heel or along the arch
Heel pain that has lasted more than a couple of weeks
What Happens at Your Appointment
Your Chiropodist assesses your foot mechanics, the way you stand and walk, and the source of the pain, then discusses the options that suit your situation. These may include custom orthotics, footwear and stretching guidance, or shockwave therapy.
What Is Plantar Fasciitis?
The most common cause of heel pain is plantar fasciitis — irritation of the plantar fascia, a band of tissue running along the sole of the foot from the heel to the toes. Overuse or strain can create tiny micro-tears where it attaches to the heel bone, causing inflammation and pain. The hallmark is pain that is sharpest with the first steps in the morning or after rest, easing with movement but often returning with prolonged standing. Where inflammation has been ongoing, a heel spur may form at the attachment — usually a sign of chronic strain rather than the main source of pain itself.
Extended Health Benefits Accepted

Heel pain can result from a number of causes, including plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendon irritation, or biomechanical imbalances. A Chiropodist can assess your feet to help identify the cause.
Plantar fasciitis involves irritation of the tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot, often causing heel pain, particularly with the first steps in the morning. Your Chiropodist can assess and discuss treatment options.
Treatment options may include orthotics, stretching guidance, footwear advice, or shockwave therapy, depending on your assessment. Your Chiropodist will recommend an approach suited to your situation.
